I use a number of research-based assessments that have been proven reliable and trustworthy. Coupled with individual or team coaching, assessments help build trust, understanding, and appreciation of each other’s unique strengths and abilities. Most of all, they all have the ability to unlock high performance in yourself, your team and your organization.

HEXACO AND THE BIG 5 PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT

You’ve likely heard of the Myer’s-Briggs assessment, but did you know it’s only accurate 50% of the time? It’s the psych fad that just won’t die. Enter the Big 5 Index, or its newest iteration: HEXACO. Construction of the HEXACO Personality Inventory started in 2000. HEXACO retains most but also redefines some of the personality factors in the Big 5 (also known as OCEAN or CANOE) and adds a sixth. We know the differences between people’s personalities can be broken down in terms of six major traits. Each one reflects a key part of how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. What’s new about HEXACO is the 6th dimension measures the degree to which a person promotes—or doesn’t—their own interests above those of others. This is a long awaited missing piece that is essential to organizational effectiveness.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE QUOTIENT (EIQ)

For decades, a lot of emphasis has been put on certain aspects of intelligence such as logical reasoning, math skills, spatial skills, understanding analogies, verbal skills, etc. One of the major missing parts in the success equation is emotional intelligence, a concept made popular by the groundbreaking book by Daniel Goleman, which is based on years of research by numerous scientists. People with high emotional intelligence tend to be more successful in life than those with lower EIQ even if their classical IQ is average.

Where there are people, there is conflict. You need to know how to manage and navigate it in order to move yourself and your team forward. The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) assesses an individual’s behavior in conflict situations—that is, situations in which the concerns of two people appear to be incompatible. In conflict situations, we can describe a person’s behavior along two basic dimensions, assertiveness and cooperativeness. These two dimensions of behavior can be used to define five methods of dealing with conflict.
